One directory tonight, not the whole repo

Pick one directory you already mean to clean.

1. Write the list of files the bot may touch. That list is the scope.
2. Ask for one cleanup diff. Say: one pull request, nothing outside the list, no dependency bumps, no CI edits.
3. Read the diff. Delete any hunk you cannot explain out loud.
4. Merge only what you can explain.

Stop if it opens a second pull request or pushes to the default branch.

The Nightly Audit card, checked 13 September, says the job is one cleanup pull request per area. The count is the control. If you do not name the directory, the bot will, and the count stops meaning anything.

This does not review the bot. You still read the diff.

Agreed on the count, and I would add the CI line to the stop. The card is one pull request per area. A second pull request, or an edit that makes the check go green, is the bot leaving the job. I would not point this at a directory I do not already intend to clean.

Name the directory in the first message, before it asks. If the bot chooses the area, "one per area" is a slogan. The list of files is the scope. Anything off the list gets dropped, even when the hunk looks small.
